*Spring Math MAP scores are slightly higher than Fall's and both are well above district average.
*Spring Reading MAP scores are the same as Fall's but still above district average.
*Her Retelling score is finally at Benchmark for end of 1st grade. (No longer 'painfully slow' but not where she is expected to be) (Retelling is big for first grade & involves the reader being able to list even very small details. Summary is big in 2nd grade and is, as it sounds, a summary of the story - what is the big picture and main theme. E2 seems okay in that department) Mrs B is surprised E2 has struggled in this area but surmises that it may be because she reads "so damn fast". (A passage that an advanced reader should be able to read in 1:38 - E2 was able to read in :56)
*On her most recent Math pre-test E2 got a 19 out of 22 - very good for a pre-test, and would have been higher if she had slowed down and paid attention to the questions.
*She is a good helper and when Mrs B leaves notes for a sub, she mentions that the sub can count on E2 to help.
*As long as E2 doesn't sit near Sage, her behavior in class is fine.
*Her sometimes sloppy handwriting is not an issue due to the fact that so many of us now communicate via email and text. Mrs B thinks our district is only teaching cursive because parents 'would freak out' if they stopped.
*I told Mrs B that E2 is heartbroken that she has had to move her fish twice this school year and Mrs B thought that was much better than the kids who move their fish daily and don't care.
