Z is officially a soccer player! His team is playing in a charity tournament and he had two games today in the drizzling rain!
He put on his uniform this morning and rushed into the kitchen (with the CUTEST look of expectation on his face!!) to show off for E1. She was unimpressed, so I made a big fuss over how handsome he looked.
We got to the fields a half-hour early as instructed and drug our load (we need a sherpa. what's worse, there was stuff we didn't bring but should have.) to field #4. The teams practiced awhile and then it was gametime. The other team scored two goals VERY quickly and I thought, hoo boy this is going to be a long season. Z's team had scrimmaged and practiced, but had NEVER played another team before, and it showed. By the end of the game though, we could see a glimmer of hope. They went on to lose 10-5 (according to the official scoreboard. The players thought they lost 7-6, and the parents thought they lost 8-5.) So we headed home, put the baby down for a nap and played Animal Crossing for awhile.
We headed back to the fields for the 2:30 game. Again they practiced, and again it was gametime. But what's this? Is the team starting to click a little? Yes indeed! They looked a LOT better the second go-round, and went on to win 3-2. They were SO excited!! Bless their hearts, almost all of them said "we're in the finals!", and almost all the parents gently had to say, "well, you have to win tomorrow's game first".
So we head back to the fields tomorrow a.m. and if they do win, they play in the final game at 2:30. Either way, we are super proud of our little champ!
Now the baby is sleeping and B & the big kids are at a Crew game.
