E2 (and E1) is really into Make and Bakes right now.    She is also into using air quotes, and sometimes even uses them in context. (I'm "sorry" you feel that way.)  She has gone to three movies in the last two weeks, and managed to make it through all three without going to the restroom.  When preschool ended, E2 had a brief bout of panic about going to kindergarten but once her summer camp (where she went to preschool) started, she stopped dwelling on it.  She is VERY excited about getting to ride the school bus next year however.   One of her favorite things to do is play with the little boy across the street.   She does NOT want to do soccer, dance or cheer but I am going to keep suggesting them! E2 is very helpful and loves to help me do laundry.   She does just fine going to school or camp or practice but when she is home with me, she is still human velcro and wants to be near mommy all. day. long. ( I know, I know I'll miss it someday.)

Zoo Trip!

E2's preschool end the year with a trip to the Zoo and this year B was able to go with us!  

A. How much do I ♥ having a kid who asks to have her picture taken and suggests good photo spots?   and

B. It really shouldn't have been a surprise when E2 kept questioning whether the alligator sunning himself was real.

 

p.s.  We did see some real actual animals, but who wants to see a photo of an elephant butt.....

*sigh*  I took more photos of E2 blowing bubbles yesterday and today than B took the whole time he was in Chicago!   

This & That

*E2's preschool is on Spring Break this week; I asked her if she wanted to go to the daycare part MWF mornings and just hang out.  She was all over that. 

Here she is being a puppy:

*I am so sick of the blue screen of death and safemode and malware and firefox and an excruciatingly slow internet I could just scream.

*Z was not chosen to move forward with ODP.  I was a little surprised but not much.

*Grandma B's cancer is agressive which is bad, but was caught early and can be monitored/treated which is good!

(and that's B's rental car)    The roads were baaaaaad this morning - I am really surprised school wasn't delayed.

*Ordered E2 some cute summer things from Justice (she's over Gymboree thanks to having an older sister) now we just need the weather to cooperate.   She is a size 6!   Holy cow.  We keep teasing E1 that E2 will be borrowing her clothes in about a year and a half.  E1 still wears size 8 slim jeans - she just outgrew size 7. 

*Z got glasses - will have to try and remember to take his picture and post it!

*B is on-call AGAIN so it looks like I am taking the kids to see How to Train Your Dragon by myself tomorrow. 

*I HATE basketball, but even I'll admit Xavier's game last night v. Kansas St. was pretty exciting!  

eta: * Z's team has a new coach, at least for the spring.  It's the same coach he had for fall season of his U9 year. 

Going buggy

I ♥ the little Caterpillar E2 made today! (Ok, so it isn't technically a bug, but that's what I label all creepy-crawlies be they spider, fly, worm, etc. ) 

E2's preschool had a field trip to COSI yesterday to do a bugs workshop.  She got to touch a hissing cockroach! (Glad Daddy went so I didn't have to !!!)  Since her trip, she is a *little* less screechy when she sees a bug outside.  A little.   (It is going to be a very long spring and summer methinks.)    I don't know how she was able to touch the cockroach, but she says it was tiny and she doesn't mind bugs when they are in someone's hand.  Whatever.

Well the magic of snow and wintry photos has definitely worn off.  I'm over it and ready for spring.  E2 on the other hand, still thinks the whole thing is fantastic and the other day ate three bowls of snow.

Sledding, take 2

I took E2 sledding today.  What I didn't realize was that the sledding hill had turned to ice.   E2 allegedly couldn't get up the hill by herself so I went with her (I barely made it up).  After a few false starts (once where the sled went down the hill by itself and oh by the way she drug the sled up the hill in record time see I knew she could do it) she began to sled down.  The hill was icy & very bumpy and she doesn't know how to steer. So she crashed into a hay bale, shouted "Seriously Mom?!? Seriously???" and stomped off to the car (like it's my fault??).  

She wasn't ready to go home, so we drove over to the path by the river and took a little walk.   When my face went numb, I decided it was time to go.  Yes, there was some more shouting and stomping.

E2 still LOVES snow. LOVES it.  Wants to eat it, throw it and roll around it.  LOVES it.  

Ignores my repeated warnings that her hands, feet, whatever will be wet and cold.  And then is very surprised when her hands, feet, whatever are wet and cold. 

 

Pajama Party!

The last day before winter break, E2 had a pj party at preschool.  I kept asking her if she wanted to wear cozy Christmasy pajamas, but she wanted to wear her witch pjs because they are sCaRy.  Since she could bring a blanket/pillow *OR* stuffed animal, she chose to bring a reindeer. Sadly (for me), she did not want to stay after for the daycare's holiday party.

This & That

This week's hot preschool gossip:  E2 broke up with Ke (BECAUSE HE TALKS TOO MUCH) and N broke up with Ka so now N is E2's boyfriend and they are going to get married.  Where do they get this stuff????

E2 just got moved up to Level 2 at gymnastics! 

Today I took E1 and a friend to Sweet & Sassy for mani's and shopping, to celebrate various gymnastic successes (forgot my camera *frowny face*).  While E1 was getting her nails done, she looked up at me and mouthed "thank you" and "thank you very much".  Made my heart melt! 

I don't like Queen Bee Poodle Hair who lives down the street. 

Eleven Year Old Boys.  'Nuff said.  

I am sick of the cold weather already, but B isn't willing to move to the Caymans and launder money. 

I have NO Christmas spirit.  Our tree isn't up, our lights aren't up, we haven't gone to see the Zoo or Marina lights yet, and I refuse to listen to Christmas music. I don't feel Grinchy; I'm just not into it. 

Four going on 14.

Last Friday, E2 came home from preschool and said "Well, apparently R is my boyfriend.  He kept trying to kiss me all day."  (Did you let him? "NO!") 

Monday she came home and said that no, R wasn't her boyfriend (Is he still trying to kiss you? "YES!") K was (Does he know that? "No.").

Today she told me that K said he would sit by the girl wearing the prettiest dress, so could she please wear one of her hanna dresses?  I wasn't in the mood for a discussion about feminism or a temper tantrum so I said yes and let it go.  ("I hope K doesn't know I have this dress!" WTH?")

E2 loooooves her new Buckeye Crocs:

Four Year Checkup

E2 wasn't really mad, she just wanted me to take a picture of her mad face (like I don't see it often enough....). 

E2 is 42" tall (95%) and weighs 38.5 lbs (75%).  Doctor said her gait is better which I assume has something to do with the pelvic tilt he mentioned last year. 

She was verrrrrrry nervous about going to the doctor so I was a little hesitant about having her get the H1N1 vaccine.  Doctor recommends it though (CDC is predicting another H1N1 spike in 2 and/or 6 weeks due to Thanksgiving and Christmas travel) so I okayed it and she was fine.  She did make sure I knew however that it really hurt. :)

(p.s. at E1's *7* year checkup, she was 46.5" and 49.5 lbs)

Almost back to normal

Cut is healing nicely, color has run through the rainbow and is starting to fade, breathing is much better, voice is no longer nasal.  I feel so bad about her left nostril though.  Someone assured me it will eventually return to its former shape - but I told E2 I'd get her plastic surgery as soon as she turns 16!

Poor Baby!

Poor E2 bumped her nose again during tubby time and boy did it swell up/turn purple!   She won't leave the ice pack on so I rushed out and got her some Motrin. :(

I don't know if the photo does it justice, but it looks much worse than before her bath.

B & E2 were at the bookstore last night to get the latest installment in the 39 Clues series.  Apparently B told E2 not to climb on a table, and apparently someone did not listen, and then took a nose dive off said table.  E2 had a very restless night and is staying home today. Fortunately her nose doesn't hurt too much (drinking from her sippy cup was uncomfortable) and she let me clean her up a little.  I am having trouble not laughing at her extremely nasal voice.

After a big lecture yesterday about how people take a bath or shower everyday and how gross it is to be dirty (E2 has been crying about tubby time lately for some inexplicable reason), today I decided that another half-hour of sleep trumped cleanliness.  Do I need to state the obvious: E2 chose today's apparel.

• "Do you think you should take your socks off?"
• "No, I want to be like you and you have socks on."

• "Do you like your backpack?"
• *shrug* "Sometimes I just want it in the picture."

After noticing the neighbor boy headed off to daycare, bundled up in about 12 layers:

• "Um, do you want a coat?"

Well, I *meant* to take lots of fall photos this week.  Unfortunately the drizzly dreary 40 degree weather put a damper on that.  This is about it for the last few days:

When I pick E2 up from preschool, she likes to run to one end of the sidewalk and then down to the other end before getting in the car.  I try to accomodate her when we have time!
